LDU Services inspect and re-certify many systems throughout the country. Following are some examples of where our competitors have gone in cheap to win a job forfeiting the very necessary quality of a system. Cutting corners to win a job is not good practice. Here are some photos of how our competitors have got it all wrong...

Using not fit for purpose fixings:

Some contractors use fixings designed for the general office environment to fix the aerial termination into place. Such items use double sided tape to adhere to the surface. Definitely not to be used for fixing lightning protection systems..

Sticking hardware down with double sided tape instead of mechanically fixing it:

Many of our competitors are using adhesive to secure air rods and flat bar to the various surfaces. While this can be done, much research is required to ensure that the adhesive will last the long term and not just long enough to  finish the job and get off site. Using double sided tape is a definite irresponsible method of fixing..

Adhesive saddles improperly secured:

Here is an example of a bad installation that has separated from the surface it is protecting and become a serious hazard.

Laying the horizontal aerial termination in a straight line:

While flat bar is fairly simply to lay in a straight line, other more flexible materials often used are not. Here is an example of an alternative product where a straight line does not exist. It look terrible and very unprofessional.

Air rods that are not connected to anything:

Here is an example of an air rod that is glued to the capping and not electrically bonded to the aerial termination.
